I visited Nene Valley railway in high summer – 24 July 2019, one of the hottest days of the summer so far at 34C.
I travelled by train from New Street Station,Biringha to Peterborough, The 2 hour journey from was in an over-air-conditioned train. This was fine to start with, but became uncomfortably chilly as time went by because I was lightly dressed for the outside temperatures not inside this chilly carriage.
My travel on the Nene Valley railway was just the opposite experience!!!
The walk fro Peterbourough mainline is just ove a mil and on the level.
On the way was a view from underneath of the mainlines feeding Peterbourough station and the north. The brisges over the nen were very impressive constructions.
Approaching Peterbourough NVR stsion you encounter ???. Worthe a look around at what a wildlife area can be – and surprisingly an unlabelled steam loco in very permanaent retirement, I suspect.
Unfortunately for me the steam loco was not running on that day being mainly a steam enthusiast.
