This website is a photographic and textual account of visits I made to preserved railways outside the national system.

Steam locos, and there hauled carriages, combine to form a splendidly dynamic, dramatic and strikingly pleasurable vision when placed in an everyday visual environment.

Particularly impressive is when such trains are set against rural environments. The visual contrast of green natural scenery with the black invasive automotive giants inspires interest and spiritual gasps! as with all juxtapositions.

My main purpose in this website is to present to the user with high quality images illustrating such scenes with exciting images.

They are not taken casually with a smart phone just as a record of having been there.

They are carefully constructed in composition and lighting both during camera exposure but also through complex and lengthy post exposure editing using Adobe Lightroom.

The photos are taken with high end Canon EOS Digital SLR cameras. This allows full licence to achieve the best visual results though the Lightroom processing.
